Becki and Chris’ wedding at Syrencot
Getting Ready
Becki and Chris got married in March 2022 at the stunning Syrencot House Wedding venue In Wiltshire near Salisbury. It was a beautiful, sunny day with flurries of snow later in the day which was an interesting and beautiful combination!
I started our day by capturing Becki and her bridesmaids having their hair and makeup done in the gorgeous purpose built bridal suite at Syrencot House. Accommodation and the getting ready rooms are the only part of the House which is used during the wedding day, the ceremony and reception takes place in other parts of the venue which I’ll go into later in this blog post.
Second shooter
Whilst I was photographing bride preparation my amazing second photographer, Veronika, was capturing the groom and his groomsmen getting ready down the corridor. It does costs more to add a second photographer to your package but the benefits are huge! It means every important moment during the getting ready won’t be me missed, sometimes when I’m working alone and the bride and groom are both getting ready on location I’ll be running in-between their rooms to try and capture as much as possible but it is inevitable that some moments will be missed during the transfer between rooms. There are other benefits to having a second shooter which I’ll cover during the ceremony section of this blog.
Wedding Ceremony in The Glass House
The ceremony took place in the glass house which is is similar to a giant green house really but it is beautifully decorated with lots of green plants and vines. My favourite part about this area is that there are white sheets hanging from the glass ceiling, this creates a gorgeous lighting effect, even if there is really harsh bright sunlight overhead coming through the glass the white sheets soften the sunlight so that you get nice soft light on peoples faces that doesn’t cause shadows under peoples eyes for example.
The walk from Syrencot House through the gardens to get to The Glass House is stunning, through the walled garden and under the pergola which was decorated beautifully for the occasion leads the wedding procession to the ceremony.
I was waiting at the front of the Glass House behind the celebrants register signing table so that I had a perfect view of the bride and her bridesmaids walking down the aisle. Veronika stood by the entrance so she could get sone gorgeous shots of the bridesmaid and Becki walking through the garden and Chris’ reaction as Becki walks down the aisle. The biggest advantage of having two photographers is that you get two angles of your wedding ceremony. When I am working alone it is not always possible to get multiple angles, especially in small venues where I can be trapped behind the register table when the bride arrives at the front. It is in scenarios like this when I would recommend a second photographer, so that the other photographer can get a lovely angle down the aisle which is perfect for when the bride and groom and standing facing each other, holding hands whilst they say their vows.
It was an absolutely lovely wedding ceremony, Chris was crying for most of it!
Reception
After the ceremony, I arranged the guests under the pergola for the confetti shot! Then, whilst the guests enjoyed a drink and canapés we started the formal family photos in the walled garden and then took Becki and Chris away for some romantic photos in front of Syrencot House.
After the Wedding Breakfast and speeches in the luxuriously decorated Farmshed there was an amazing sunset and flurries of snow which was not expected so we went out for more photos with the couple and they look beautiful!
To wrap up this post, Syrencot is an incredibly beautiful venue with a mixture of stunning gardens and architecture with plenty of areas to explore for photos.
