Laura and Adams Wedding at Kingston Maurward

Laura and Adam got married at their dream wedding venue in June 2022, Kingston Maurward, which is an 18th century Manor House nestled in the hilly countryside nearby the Dorset county town of Dorchester. Their wedding will always be special and very memorable for me because Laura and Adam were one of the very first couples to book me for their wedding when I started my business in 2019. What made it so memorable was that so much time had passed since the time of booking and we had communicated a lot, they even popped into my shop in Swanage a few times so we’re more like friends by the the time the wedding day came around!

Kingston Maurward is an absolutely stunning wedding venue, it’s a beautifully elegant 18th century Manor House with large gardens and a small lake, there’s so much space for you and your guests to enjoy on the wedding day. When Laura and Adam booked me, we did their engagement photo shoot in the Kingston Maurward gardens so I had idea of the layout on the big day.

To start the day I photographed Laura and her bridesmaids getting ready at her home in Wool, this is a really nice local wedding for me as I live in Wareham. It is really nice to do a wedding where I only have to drive 15 minutes there and back as often the day itself is a 12 hour job so the short drive home is a blessing! After the getting ready photos were finished I drove straight to Kingston Maurward where the ceremony in the stunning Rose Garden took place! The outside ceremony features a long pond with a fountain, I had to be very careful not to walk backwards and fall in!

After the ceremony there was a drinks reception in walled garden, where I photographed the family portraits, also lawn games and some shots of guests just relaxing on the grass. At this point I always like to get some shots of the bride and groom as the forecast was meant to go downhill, although it actually got better! So we explored Kingston Mauward’s amazing grounds for some romantic photos before heading inside for the speeches.

After the speeches and the food had been eaten we headed out for a gorgeous golden hour session, this my favourite time to take photos and probably every other photographer’s favourite time too! There is something so special about the softness and golden glow of the evening light.

The last thing to do was capturing the first dance!

If you are looking for a wedding venue in Dorset which has a lot to offer, including an elegant and luxurious manor with beautiful, light indoor spaces along with beautiful gardens to explore then Kingston Maurward venue for you! Not to mention that it’s right on my doorstep so I love it!
